ay
to day is just a blur around here. We are working double time before my bf has
to go back to work and then things will slow down.
I can remember yesterday, but the day before that escapes me for the moment. Ah
yes.. garden planting. I am only half done, but I have 500 feet planted by
myself. It took 7 hours and I have half a garden yet to go. Right after I was
done for the day we have WONDERFUL downpours. I did not have to water the
garden.
That night we went to visit friends (which we have not gotten to do for the
longest time and had a BBQ and a very nice outdoor fire to sit around. In the
middle of a lightening storm and a downpour or two. It was lovely. I just tossed
a wool blanket over me and the (borrowed) baby from time to time when it did
rain a bit. Stayed out until 2 am.. I still got up at my normal 6 am, everyone
else slept until 11 am.
Yesterday on Sunday, I woke up and looked out the window as I normally do to
survey our little part of the world and I saw a black fox running up our East
fenceline.
We took another load of garbage from the former owners to the dump and took out
the ratty fenceline between us and our only neighbor since it was already
squashed to the ground and we need to put up a new fence. The man owner was fine
about it and liked what we did, his wife was MADDER THAN THREE WET HENS! She
started taking pictures left and right. I came in on the middle of it and had no
idea what was going on and started being chatty with her as I have only seen her
3x since we moved here. I think she is Ok with it now, but for a bit I thought
we were gonna have a fence war that was going to last for the next 20-30 years..
geeeesh.. We HAD talked previously to the man nextdoor neighbor after all. But
we sent over some still hot out of the oven cinnimon rolls and a tractor bucket
full of dry birch firewood for their bonfire last night. We are at peace again
(I think).
We got the turkey
side of the barn pasture done, but for one section of 15 or less feet when we
ran out of fencing. The chicken side of the poulty house was cleaned out of all
the straw (loose and baled) and into the shed. Got the appliances (including the
kitchen sink) out of there.
