rAzYy!
That is all I can say!! We have a storm such as I have not seen since the Oregon
Coast. We have been getting phone calls from people on phones and cell phones
about power lines being down across roadways, me being on 911 and BC Hydro when
we had phone/power to report to them from the people who could get ahold of me
but not 911, trees on fire, roofs blowing off barns and houses. THAT is before
the bad winds hit us. The guys have been planning for the Grey Cup game all week
and the power just went out here 15 minutes before the game. Then the black
clouds rolled in and pummeled us with sleet/rain/snow stuff and all of it was
going horizontally. The cows went running for the shelter of the trees. The
chickens were lucky they were not let out today as they would have
ended up in Alberta. We now have no phone, no power, but we do have wind up
radios where they are trying to get the game on the radio. The woodstove is
going, so I can cook mushroom and wild rice soup again. I actually bought bread
at Costco the other day, so I do not have to bake any on the woodstove, though I
have done it before. The pictures do not show the justice of the trees bending
over. It also looks like snow in the pictures,
but it is sideways flying sleet stuff. Most of the trees are also almost bending
in half. The wind is whistling though the windows and doors. We have had the
power out more in the last week than we have had
in the last 5 years. The kids are already driving me crazy and trying to play
football with a fuzzy football, but we did try to toss the kids outdoors for a
few minutes as pictured above, until they decided it was not any fun. I went
outside to take these pictures and it indeed hurt. So it will be reading time by
lamplight for me tonight. Hey.. "Kid" just dialed in the BC
Lions/Montreal Grey Cup game on the wind up radio, so they are all intent upon
it now. It will do them good to listen to the radio instead of watching TV
anyway. Needless to say, we did nothing today.
