oday was a very productive day. Since we had the horse trailer here from going and getting "Daisy" last night, I asked "A" if she needed me to move her horses as I was thinking, it was a win-win situation as I could wash out the horse trailer at her house. So.. though I have hauled trailers before.. I actually got to haul my first horses today. One horse is 1,600 pounds and the other was 700 pounds. I do not suggest hauling horses for the first time with those weights especially when the grader had just torn up the gravel roads I had to travel on. It made the roads soft and spongy.

Just as I was calling the press company asking where my part for the press was after I called the normal shipping drop off point, I got a call from another drop off point while I was on the phone to the press company. It has been this part which was supposed to have been here last Wednesday, which has been holding up the magazine. But we got them printed up this afternoon and collated.. and we missed the deadline for the day to get them to the people who fold, staple and trim them. SO they are going there first thing in the morning... and the plan is they get mailed on Wednesday.

For dinner we had goat steaks from one of our goats and "A's" lamb chops from a lamb I bought her at auction with me on a cell phone yelling prices and YES! That is the lamb that I taught her how to butcher a couple months ago.

When I got up at 7am this morning the temperature was -6C/21F. It was a killing frost..

Three eggs from the hens today. Of the three breeds, the Plymouth Barred Rocks are the earliest layers. I think the Dark Brahmas will be behind the Rhode Islands, but I may be surprised.

Kid went out with his pellet gun tonight and got a grouse. I love grouse. They are probably my next favorite food next to fresh bread and chocolate.  Cleaning grouse are so easy and almost sound like someone is kidding you when they tell you how. But honestly, you step on both wings and pull upwards.. and you are left with a pair of wings and the breast. We will probably have it and a few others we have in the freezer for dinner in the next few days.

"Teenager" is having surgery on his hand tomorrow.. getting a few pins and other hardware put in. I feel badly for him.
