ot
the magazines mailed off today. After them having me send these packages a
kazillion different ways over the last year, I think they finally decided on a
permanent method of how I am supposed to send the magazines now. The good part,
is maybe no more will get lost in the mail, the bad part is that the postage
went up about 98 cents per package for me. For those of you who wanted to know
what it was to send to France, it is $6.98 postage and they told me that we can
probably squeeze 2 magazines with that cost in one package for the weight range
allowed.
I started out my day with my friend waking me up as I overslept and we went to go butcher one of her friend's sheep. A Kahtadin ram lamb. I was teaching her friends how to do it. I got a lovely breakfast of French Toast and Pan Potatoes out of the deal. And may have a lead on renting their portable saw mill if we do not decide to attempt to use the Alaskan Mill. The drawback with their mill is it only has a capacity of up to 10 feet.
"Daisy" is still skittish, but she is still eating from the feed pan (which is about the size of a bread loaf pan) and I got to pet her face today. She was not excited about it, but she came back for more grain. We are making progress!!!! She is so soft. Not like a Polled Hereford which is what I am used to handling, bovine-wise.
OK.. I may have misspoken about her calf yesterday. Today he showed some exuberance and was playing with one of our huge anthills. He was bucking over it, around it.. falling on purpose on it and having a grand 'ole time. He has a sense of humor.
4 Eggs from the chickens
today.. the numbers are going up.
