et
there be milk!!
Ok,
there is barely any milk covering the bottom of that quart jar, only 3
tablespoons maybe, but I think the calf had just ate. She did not even try
to kick me, so maybe soon I can sit down to milk.
This morning, I just walked up to her, grabbed her lead rope which was covered in goo and lead her up to the top pf the pasture to feed here. I keep upping the ante' every day with her. So the second time I caught her up today. I tied her to the willow again and let her stand there for about 15 minutes before I got the idea to try to milk her today. While she was tied there, I had my bf come look at her udder as there is something odd with it, other than her having a shortened teat on the 'driver's side rear'. But I need to take a couple pictures and show my former boss to make sure everything is OK.
I am going to have to wash her tail. Being swished in the face with a poopy tail is not too fun. But she holds very still when I was milking her (from both sides).
Other news on the homestead today. I have to harvest the Leeks and what is left of the brassicas and my bf is going to till the garden with the big tractor. The little rototiller is going to Amy's and then on to "N's" so they can till their garden and then they shelter it for the winter. We have to do ours first as they are a zone warmer than us. I am also taking my goat "Crystal" over to their place to get bred by their buck.
Since tomorrow is the Canadian Thanksgiving, we are butchering a turkey here in a few minutes. I have the water boiling now. The rest we will grow out until Christmas/Yule.
