newest "Daisy" report...
Well.. I have not had time for the last few days to work with her as I have wanted someone to be home when I started messing with her again. After that last kick, I am wanting a backup in case it is my head the next time. I caught her up easily as she knows she only gets grain from me. She lead well and I tied her up to the willow tree again. I had "Kid" come up near the cow to start getting her used to other people. When he got within 50 feet the cow started to try to escape and went to her knees and the up and anything she could do to get away from the scary person coming towards her. After "Kid" took off his hat and multicolored shirt, she still was agitated though she would stick her nose into the feed bucket for a second with him and then proceeded to toss the bucket from his hands and scare him. He stated he will have nothing to do with the cow until she is 100% tamed. Thankfully my boyfriend got home at that time and I had him come out to help. He was also less than enthused and after I said she was the "FAMILY COW", he came out to work with her. Again she started to fling herself around, but as my boyfriend had a better grip on the feedpan, she ate from it. He then petted her head, poll and shoulders. We discussed if we could not get her over being so skittish, that we would keep her for a brood cow and maybe graft other calves onto her as she seems to be a good mother. We are looking for another milk cow, just in case.
