inally got to the garden again today. It rained most of the day and "Kid" and I popped in there to tear more stuff out between rainstorms. As we were working along, I asked "Kid" to dig up the celery for transplanting while I was potting up the Swiss Chard. He asks what celery is.. I said "What? You know what celery is.. you put peanut butter on it and eat it. .. the green crunchy stuff".. he says "Like Ants on a stick?".. only having a vague clue what he was talking about, I said "Sure". .. I said the green stuff in the row.. he says "It's all green".. Granted, my weeding was not spectacular this year.. so I said "Well it is a golden celery, so it is yellowish".. the poor lad.. somewhat laughing and somewhat frustrated, he yells .."It is All yellowing.. the garden is dying!"..  By then, I had finished what I was doing and went to help him.

We potted up a window box of 5 celery plants and a window box and a round planter of "Five Color Silverbeet" Swiss Chard. I thought it would look nicely colored on the porch and I thought I would give one to my bf's mother as she loves Swiss Chard.

We transplanted in 12 raspberry canes, pulled the Shallots, cut the heads off the sunflowers. Pulled the pea fencing, gathered in the planting strings so they do not get stuck in the tiller. Rolled up the last of the fencing. I will try to get in the last of the brassicas tomorrow and have a good feed of Brussels Sprouts. I have a red variety I just love. It would be nice to mix the red and the green ones for Thanksgiving in a few days.

I also started on the rock flower beds outside the root cellar and have the start of the wooden door laying on the front porch. I started on that after I went down to haul up 300 gallons of water. That is my chore again since "Teenager" broke his hand for the second time in 3 weeks a couple days ago. I only have one coarse (layer) of rock down to see if I like it that way. And after I gathered most of the stuff for the door and have it in some semblance of what it ought to look like, I looked at the sky and decided we had better work in the garden since the door project is under cover.

Goat steaks for dinner tonight. Not sure what else I will make. I need to bake some bread for sure.. I may make stuffing out of the other loaf which is over a day old. Yams? I have a few of those floating around before I buy my 40-60 pounds for the year.

The black imaging unit still has not come in. I am hoping for Monday and if it is not here, I will be making some more phone calls again. They told me it would be here last Wednesday.. I am glad I did not hold my breathe. 780 pages will not take long, so I will take it to the people who will fold, staple and trim them (new people) the same day, so I am thinking I will be able to mail the magazines out by Wednesday. Thank you for everyone's patience.

Just as I was done typing this I had to look outside as I heard them. 50-ish Sandhill Cranes just flew over our house heading south.
